Sexual Chocolate Release at Charlotte Flying Saucer – by Dan Parks

posted on January 30, 2009 in None

Valentines Day is right around the corner. One good thing that comes from Valentines is the release of Foothills Sexual Chocolate. This award winning beer from Foothills Brewing Company is out of Winston-Salem, NC. Sexual Chocolate is a cocoa infused Imperial Stout weighing it at 9.75% abv.

It pours an opaque black with a dark brown head. A big chocolate aroma with notes of molasses, espresso, and sweet toffee are accompanied by a smooth chocolate flavored backbone with coffee and dark fruit notes.

On February the 18th the Charlotte Flying Saucer will release 2009 series and a vintage 2008 series of Sexual Chocolate. Don’t miss out on this great event as the beer will be served in a specialty logoed glass from Foothills which you get to keep! Jamie Bartholomaus, head brewer, and Scott Smith, the NC sales representative, plans to be in attendance as well. The flying will commence at 7pm, don’t be late.

Bell’s Hopslam on tap in KC

posted on January 21, 2009 in Kansas City Flying Saucer

Here yee here yee – Hopslam is being tapped tomorrow at the KC FS! Bell’s cranks out some killer beers and if you love the hops, you will love this.

“It’s a biting, bitter, tongue bruising of an ale.” And this could be precisely why Matt G loves the stuff. It is limited and we may be the only place in the county to get it. So, drink some while you can. Beware – 1.087 OG with 10.00% abv. Go easy…..

World Beer Festival – Columbia, SC

posted on January 16, 2009 in Columbia Flying Saucer

World Beer FestivalMan, I love a good beer festival. If you are going to be in Columbia, SC the weekend of January 24th, you gotta go to this event. It have been almost 4 years now that we’ve been able to sell beer over 5%. We’ve come a long way in SC and hosting the WBF is a BIG DEAL.

Visit all about beer magazine’s link to learn more about this fest. There will only be two sessions on Saturday January 24th. It is selling out quickly and you will not want to miss it.

All of the brewers will be at the Flying Saucer at Park and Senate Friday night. Come help us celebrate beer….

I am sure we will be cranking out some funky beers before and after this event.

Cheers to 2008

Austin’s anniversary party on Saturday was a big hit. Thanks to all of  you who came to sample a few rare beers and make it a fun night and to Lee  for the Blog and a big one to Ted and gang for saving those beers back and not being selfish with them.

This was our first time to attempt live music and Los Flames kept a good vibe. Those guys are really talented and we appreciate them coming to help liven things up. A special thanks to Ruben Ramos.

You will most likely never see Sierra Nevada Anniversary ale on tap for a buck a pint again, so I hope you got your fill. That was Ted’s special treat to say thank you for choosing the Saucer to supply  your thirst for good beer.

We deliberately held back the 120 Minute IPA for the last tapping. That’s a good thing because it would have blown your palate. Live Oak Primus Cask lasted almost an hour. Real Ale cask Rye was a nice treat from the boys in Blanco. Midas Touch was on most of the day with 2 kegs. Brasserie de Rocs made it all night which was surprising. The Bigfoot is still on tap – we had plenty.

Thanks to Blue Note Bakery for the cake.

Next event will be on Groundhog Day when Rob Tod from Allagash will host a beer dinner.
